چکیده

Though there is much work on how inconsistency in databases should be managed, there is good reason to believe that end users will want to bring their domain expertise and needs to bear in how to deal with inconsistencies. In this paper, we propose the concept of inconsistency management policies (IMPs). We show that IMPs are rich enough to specify many types of inconsistency management methods proposed previously, but provide end users with tools that allow them to use the policies that they want. Our policies are also capable of allowing inconsistency to persist in the database or of eliminating more than a minimal subset of tuples involved in the inconsistency. We present a formal axiomatic definition of IMPs and present appropriate complexity results, together with results linking different IMPs together. We extend the relational algebra (RA) to incorporate IMPs and present theoretical results showinghow IMPs and classical RA operators

Inflation Bias, Time Inconsistency of Monetary and Fiscal Policies and Institutional Quality

In developing countries, weak institutional quality can increase the probability of applying discretionary policies and can have a great impact on their double-digit inflation. Surico (2008) calculated inflation bias, but he considered just monetary policy and he did not pay attention to the institutions. Therefore, we design a model which considers the discretion in monetary and fiscal policie...

Incorporating Classical Logic Argumentation into Policy-based Inconsistency Management in Relational Databases

Inconsistency management policies allow a relational database user to express customized ways for managing inconsistency according to his need. For each functional dependency, a user has a library of applicable policies, each of them with constraints, requirements, and preferences for their application, that can contradict each other. The problem that we address in this work is that of determin...

بررسی و تبیین مشکل ناسازگاری زمانی

In very, simple words, time inconsistency means failing to conduct programs in consistence with time. In other words, time inconsistency refers to a situation where economic decision-makers preferences transform a long time in a way that what they preferred at a certain time point is not consistent with their preferences at other time points. In everyday life, we always face time inconsistency....

Context-Aware Distance Semantics for Inconsistent Database Systems

Many approaches for consistency restoration in database systems have to deal with the problem of an exponential blowup in the number of possible repairs. For this reason, recent approaches advocate more flexible and fine grained policies based on the reasoner’s preference. In this paper we take a further step towards more personalized inconsistency management by incorporating ideas from context...

XACML Policy Inconsistency Analysis and Resolution

Modality inconsistency is one of the security policy evaluation challenges, which arises because of the existence of both positive and negative authorizations for a given subject-object pair. An inconsistency analysis model is needed to discover inconsistency based on the inheritance relationship between concepts and resolved it by using predefined resolution rules. Previous studies handle moda...
